Our History

Dunlap Builders, LLC, a residential general contractor, was started in 1980 and Merritt Company, our manufacturing shop, was started in 1977 by Jim Dunlap. Being a small company the Dunlap Builders team has the advantage of being able to lend greater personal attention to its client jobs. One can be assured of the quality of the products used, the integrity of the people behind the projects, and the knowledge and stability that come from decades of experience. Dunlap Builders strives to make each project something that both the company and the home owner can take pride and feel confident in for years to come.

Jim Dunlap

Jim has owned and operated Dunlap Builders for over 30 years. He is currently serving as President of Alaska State Home Builders Association (ASHBA) as well as the Board of Directors for both the Anchorage Home Builders Association (AHBA) and serves on the Safety and Health Committee with National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
